Hello Everyone, I am so excited to begin my reveal of the #smimodernfarmhouse with the Entry & Family Room. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me post the progress of this home, while it was under construction, on my Insta Stories. More recently, I have been sharing some peeks of the finished home.
My clients came to me before construction began, and asked me to help them create their dream home. They wanted a Modern Farmhouse style home that was high on style, but comfortable for their young family with 4 children. I, of course, was thrilled to design in the Modern Farmhouse style!
My clients were truly a dream to work with. During our first few meetings, we talked about their style, how their family likes to live and discussed their vision for their home. From there, they trusted me 100% with every decision. In fact, if you ask them, they will tell you that they didn’t even feel it necessary to be involved with many of the major design decisions in the home. They felt comfortable letting me make the selections and were confident in my ability to create the home of their dreams. As a designer, I couldn’t ask for more.
The result of almost a year of work has culminated in the creation of a beautiful home my clients can enjoy for many years to come.
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be revealing different spaces in this home, here on the blog. There are a few spaces that still need to be photographed, including the exterior. I will share those as soon as I can, but over the next couple of weeks, you will be able to see many of the main areas in this Modern Farmhouse. I am especially thankful for the incredible photography skills of Sara Boulter, who has beautifully captured my work through her lens.
Now on to the reveal of the SMI Modern Farmhouse Entry and Family Room…
The herringbone tile floor, shiplap ceiling and wallpapered wall make this entry anything but boring. The two tone lighting brings warmth in the entry and throughout the home.
The Fritz Mirror and Cohen table lamps, from Gabby Home, fit perfectly into the space. The mirror has a burnished brass frame, with a white laquered seagrass accent. It is insanely beautiful in person. The table lamps have a textured glass finish, which makes them anything but boring.
The painted brick fireplace is the focal point of the family room. Warmth was introduced into the space with the addition of a custom made white oak mantel. The mantel was given a custom stain, which compliments the other wood tones in the home.
The fireplace is flanked with a 10ft tall bookcase on one side and a charming window seat on the other.
The window seat is the perfect spot to sit and gaze at the gorgeous view or curl up with a good book. The two library sconces give off the perfect light for the evening hours. The black windows are absolutely stunning against the white interior walls. This bold contrast is my favorite!
All the furniture I chose for the space was done with function top of mind. As I mentioned, my clients have 4 young children, and choosing furniture, which could withstand the daily use of 4 children, was important. I chose a dark gray sofa, leather accent chairs and arm chairs with a speckled and textured pattern. The sofa is deep with comfortable down cushions. The gorgeous coffee table, also from Gabby Home, sits on top of a soft jute rug, layered with a navy vintage inspired rug.
Brass and wood accents are scattered throughout the space to add warmth and shine.
Two stools placed at the front of the fireplace provide additional seating for extended family and friends.
All the elements came together to provide this family with the perfect space to relax and entertain.
I hope you love these spaces as much as I do. You can find some sources to items I used in the space below. Just click on each image to be take directly to the source.
Next, I’ll be revealing the kitchen and dining area, so stay tuned!
